About Us

I am a Christian husband to my wife Jordan and father of our three children, Denna, Devyn, and Jensen as well as a third-generation farmer/rancher, and a second-generation knife maker. My dad, Mike Bryant, built knives in the 90s but retired from them in order to build custom rifles. I have been very fortunate to have been taught by an excellent craftsman, who happens to be my toughest critic! I grew up on our ranch raising Hereford cattle, and in my dad’s shop, tearing through all his handle materials and watching him create custom knives and rifles. The different horns, stag, and exotic woods captivated me from an early age. I remember the old leather sewing horse sitting in a room of our house, and I’m proud to say it now sits in my home where it gets used most evenings to sew my sheaths. I also grew up deer hunting with my family, where I learned to appreciate the functionality of a fine knife, not just its beauty. A love for the outdoors and desire to craft beautiful yet functional knives has culminated into the creation of JB Custom Knives.

I attended Oklahoma State University and graduated with an Agricultural Business degree in 2009. I began building knives on commission in 2011 but didn’t get real serious about turning it into a business until about 2015. In July 2017 I had three of my knives judged, and I was accepted as a voting Lonestar Member of the Texas Knifemaker’s Guild. Later that summer one of my mini green river skinners was featured in an article on Blademag.com. As a result of an overwhelming amount of support from my community, and all the customers turned friends, I have been blessed with the opportunity to pursue my passion, which is building knives!
